HANAC Summer Youth Employment Program

The goal of this Summer Youth Employment Program is to give teens an appreciation of the connection between learning and work. Participants must be between the ages of 14 and 21, have working papers (when needed, base on their age), and complete an application before being accepted.

The program operates in July and August. Job sites include nursing homes, hospitals, business offices, day camps, and child care centers. Each job site is supervised by the host agency and teens are given solid internship experience for which they receive a salary equivalent to the prevailing minimum wage.

This program is funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development and serves approximately 650 teenagers and young adults at 77 work sites each summer.
