Mission

HANAC, Inc. – originally founded as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City based multi-faceted social services organization with administrative offices at 49 West 45th Street in New York City. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.

HANAC's organization mission is:
To develop, implement and administer the operation of service programs for the betterment of the community; to provide these services to any and all who are needy without discrimination as to race, creed, national origin or other defining characteristic; and to work closely with other providers, the city, state and federal governments for the betterment of the community.

Today, HANAC fulfills that mission by developing and administering the operation of essential social services including youth, senior and immigrant services, employment and education programs, counseling and affordable housing for the betterment of the community.

We presently sponsor over 40 programs located in twelve sites in four boroughs, serving over 30,000 clients annually.
