The mission of the Ravenswood NORC is to address the needs of seniors living in the Ravenswood housing complex. These seniors come from diverse, multicultural backgrounds, have “aged in place” at Ravenswood, and need help to remain in their homes.
HANAC’s on-site services enable these seniors to live a quality life and function at the highest level possible in a safe and nurturing environment. More than 300 seniors residing at Ravenswood receive services as part of the NORC.
Our bilingual direct service staff is fluent in English and Spanish. They provide a variety of services including case management, case assistance, information and referrals regarding senior services (ex: Food Stamps, Medicare, SSI), home visits, and transportation services.
In addition, the Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) provides the services of a Registered Nurse two days per week. The Registered Nurse’s responsibilities include, health care management, health care assistance, health education, and blood pressure screening.
Funding is provided by the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA) in partnership with Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).
